Sean is a Red Seal Electrician, third year business student, and chronically busy individual who started volunteering with Westwinds in 2022 as volunteer coordinator, served as secretary in 2023 and was elected VP in 2024. He has participated in Silver band, Mixed Choir, YA choir, and Symphonic band, though not in the same year. He hopes you enjoy your time in Westwinds, and that you to would consider volunteering.

Kevin joined Westwinds in 2023 in the very first semester of the Young Adult Choir. In 2024, he also joined the Blue Jazz band as the pianist. Kevin has a Bachelor of Music in piano and has sung in a variety of choirs over the years, including the University of Lethbridge Singers and the Alberta Youth Choir. When he’s not making music, he teaches Grade 3 in a French Immersion school and loves building community—both in the classroom and on stage. He is excited to serve as Secretary and help keep the music going at Westwinds!

Nathan Gingrich received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Regina. Continued studies led him to Weimar Germany where he received his advanced artist’s diploma in classical trombone performance and another degree in jazz and pop trombone performance from the Hochschule fuer Musik “Franz Liszt”.

While in Germany, Mr. Gingrich co-founded a number of ensembles – travelling around Germany, France, Belgium, Austria and even to China to perform.

He taught trombone and jazz music theory at the Musik- und Kunstschule Jena for 4 years before moving to Calgary in 2006 to begin teaching music within the CBE at Thomas B. Riley Jr. High. In the fall of 2009 Nathan began teaching at William Aberhart High School.

Mr. Gingrich directs all bands and jazz bands at Aberhart. He has also taught Musical Theatre, Choir and Strings in the past.

Mr. Gingrich began directing Westwinds Bronze Jazz Ensemble in the fall of 2012.
Mr. Gingrich can be seen regularly playing with a variety of ensembles in and around Calgary as well as leading masterclasses and workshops. Playing experience has seen him perform with the Prime Time Big Band, Calgary Jazz Orchestra, Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble, The Calgary Trombone Quartet and Altius Brass, among others.
Mr. Gingrich is involved in several community music organizations including the Calgary Association of Music Education (CADME), co-ordinator of the annual “Holiday TubaFest” and “Slide Into Spring: Calgary’s Trombone Day to celebrate International Trombone Week” and is a proud member of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters’ fraternity.

Mr Gingrich is also a Conn-Selmer artist and clinician.

Brendan joined the Gold Jazz South band as their drummer in 2012 and has played percussion in the Wind Orchestra. He also frequently plays as an accompanist for several of the concert bands and choirs. Brendan has always loved and played a variety of music, including performing in rock, metal and jazz bands, and graduated from the Jazz Performance program at Mount Royal University.
