In Memoriam

Remembering those who have passed and are part of the legacy of Westwinds Music Society

Mike Sakatch

Music Director, 1993-2019

August, 2019 - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we mourn the loss of our friend, Director, mentor, musician and all-around amazing guy, Mike Sakatch. His influence on Calgary's music community was enormous. We honour his years of service as a member of the Artistic team at Westwinds, his long and distinguished career with the Calgary Board of Education, and his role with CADME (Calgary Association for the Development of Music Education).

Mike's talents, dedication, infectious good humour and boundless energy enriched the lives of thousands of musicians of all ages. His legacy lives on through the music he made and the music he inspired in others. Our sincere condolences to his family. May they find comfort in knowing the happiness he brough to so many others. Mike, you will be missed.
