Summer Program 2026
Registration is now open!
Westwinds is pleased to offer 5 summer programs: concert band, jazz, choir, multi-level orchestra, and chamber strings. Please review the details for each program before continuing to registration. There are special circumstances for some programs and not all programs have the same dates.
Chamber Strings
Thursdays, 7:00-7:55 or 8:05-9:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 3527 Boulton Rd NW
Clinicians: TBD
Open to current and past Westwinds members. Pre-formed chamber groups (string quartet, trio, duet) are preferred. Program dates are July 2 - August 6 and each sessions consists of 55 minute coachings with a clinician, culminating in a final performance on Sunday, August 9 in the afternoon. Participants will need to commit to attending all rehearsals and the performance.

Multi-level Orchestra
Saturdays, Summit View United Church, 3303 Capitol Hill Cres NW
Director: Christina Visy
Open to Westwinds and non-Westwinds string players. This program will take place over two Saturdays (July 25 and August 8,10:00am - 3:00pm) culminating in a performance in the afternoon on Sunday August 9. The multi-level orchestra is open to orchestral string players with 1+ years of playing experience. Parts will be assigned according to each player's level of experience.
July 25 includes sectionals/clinics in the morning, a pot-luck lunch, and an orchestra rehearsal in the afternoon. August 8 will be a full day of rehearsals (10:00am - 3:00pm) with a potluck lunch in the afternoon. Participants need to commit to attending all rehearsals and the performance.

Summer Concert Band
Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Mamdani Opera Centre, 1315 7 St SW
Director: Taylor Berry
Join us to get ready for fall or shake some dust of your instrument. Open to Westwinds and non-Westwinds participants. All levels are welcome. Most pieces will be at the grade 3 level. Program dates are July 15 - August 19 with the final concert in the afternoon of August 22.

Summer Jazz Band
Thursdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Mamdani Opera Centre, 1315 7 St SW

Come get your jazz on this summer! Open to Westwinds and non-Westwinds participants. All levels are welcome. Most pieces will be at the grade 3 level. Program dates are July 16 - August 20 with the final concert in the afternoon of August 22.
Rhythm section is available first come, first serve (you will be registered to a waitlist first and invoiced later).

Summer Choir

Come join us and get your singing fix this summer! Open to Westwinds and non-Westwinds participants. All voices and levels are welcome. Most pieces will be at an intermediate level. Program dates are July 16 - August 20 with the final concert in the afternoon of August 22.
