What is Westwinds?

Westwinds is a not-for-profit Adult community organization operated by and for its members. You must be 18 years of age to join Westwinds.

Regardless of your level of experience, we have a spot for you in one (or more) of our 6 concert bands, 4 jazz bands, 5 choirs and 2 strings ensembles. These groups rehearse, in a structured learning environment, once per week from 7 pm to 9 pm, from September through May.

Within each group, you will find the support and camaraderie of welcoming peers who play or sing at similar levels. You will have the exhilarating experience of performing for audiences a number of times per year in such events as the Christmas Concert, the Alberta International Band Festival, Choralfest and other performances. In addition, Westwinds offers clinics and other classes to augment the weekly rehearsals. In the summer, we offer an optional, relaxed, six-week program for junior and advanced levels of concert band, jazz band and choir. And for those interested in travel, Westwinds offers enriching performance tours to International destinations....

Westwinds supports the community. We are involved in charitable functions and often perform for community and private events. Our members and volunteers are recognized for their musical and community achievements.

And for added fun, treat your friends and family to social events throughout the year, such as the annual Concert in the Park and Big Band Dinner Dance.
