Westwinds currently operates a wide variety of ensembles at multiple skill levels in three families. Choose the musical family below to get more information about each ensemble.

In general, Westwinds members self-place themselves into a group based on their own experience, skill and comfort level. Entry into Jazz ensembles at the Gold level are at the discretion of the Director. Choral Ensemble is an auditioned group.

Groups which do not audition may participate in a Placement process, designed to assess the member's musical ability and assist in determining whether they are in the right group and to assess their place within that group.

We acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Îyâxe (Stoney) Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
