Mike has been the
Director of Bands at Lord Beaverbrook High School
since 1980. During this time, the program has
grown from 70 musicians to more than 185
musicians, making it the largest high school band
program in the province. Under Mike's direction,
the bands at Lord Beaverbrook have received
recognition locally, nationally and
internationally.
Prior to Lord Beaverbrook,
Mike taught for two years at Bishop Pinkham Junior
High and acted as music director for the Calgary
Stampede Show Band. From 1977 to 1980, he
performed as a percussionist with the Calgary
Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mike received his
formal education from Eastern Washington where he
earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education,
Secondary Music. Upon graduation, he returned to
Calgary and worked as a free-lance musician prior
to his posting at Bishop Pinkham Junior
High.
